Our Compass

Wherever their journey takes them, our students carry their Compass with them.

At United World Academy, we believe that education should give students more than knowledge. It should help them understand who they are, what they stand for, and how they choose to move through the world.

Our students will follow different paths, pursue different ambitions, and encounter a world that will continue to change. Our Compass represents the values we believe will help them navigate that journey with confidence and character.

The Five Values

Five values. One direction.

These five values shape the way we learn, make decisions, build relationships, respond to challenges, and contribute to our community.

01

Curiosity

Learning begins with questions.

We encourage students to wonder, explore, and look beyond the obvious. Curiosity opens minds to new ideas and perspectives, encouraging students not simply to seek answers, but to understand, question, and discover for themselves.

02

Responsibility

Our choices matter.

We encourage students to take ownership of their learning, actions, and commitments. As they grow, so does their independence — learning to make thoughtful choices, honour commitments, and understand the impact they have on the people and world around them.

03

Integrity

We do what is right, even when no one is watching.

Integrity is at the heart of trust. We encourage honesty, fairness, and consistency between what we believe, what we say, and what we do. Students learn that character is reflected in the choices they make every day.

04

Perseverance

Growth comes from continuing when things are difficult.

Challenges are an essential part of learning. We encourage students to persist, reflect, adapt, and try again. In doing so, they learn that progress is built through effort and that setbacks can become opportunities to grow.

05

Respect

We value ourselves, others, and the world around us.

Respect shapes the way we listen, communicate, collaborate, and care. We encourage students to value different perspectives, treat others with dignity, and recognise their responsibility towards their community and environment.

Living Our Compass

Our Compass is not something that sits on a wall. It is intended to be lived.

It is reflected in our classrooms, on the sports field, in the choices students make, in the way we treat one another, and in how we respond when things do not go as planned. It provides a shared language for students, educators, and families — helping us build a culture where character and learning develop together.

The destination may be different for every student. The values that guide the journey remain constant.
