Pastoral Care

Every student known and supported

A culture of care

At United World Academy, a student's wellbeing is part of their education. Children learn best when they feel safe, respected and connected to the people around them. Our pastoral approach brings teachers, school leaders, counsellors and families together to understand each student as a person, not only as a learner.

As children move through school, their needs change. A younger child may need help naming a feeling or building a friendship; an older student may need guidance with independence, relationships or the pressures of assessment. We make time for these conversations and respond with care, consistency and appropriate support.

Belonging and responsibility

Classroom relationships, house activities and opportunities for student voice help young people find their place in the UWA community. Students learn to listen, resolve differences, seek help and look out for others. Our values of curiosity, responsibility, integrity, perseverance and respect guide daily interactions as well as important decisions.

Our counsellor provides an additional point of support when students need to talk through personal or emotional concerns. We work in partnership with parents, sharing observations and agreeing on sensible next steps so that support at school and at home remains connected.
